About Personal Information Protection
Hitachi Communication Technologies, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Company) is a global supplier of information communications equipment and information communications systems. The Company handles a wide range of information over the course of its business operations, and is often entrusted with business information including technical information as well as personal information from the customers. In order to safeguard this invaluable information, the Company is steadfastly committed to providing and maintaining a secure information control framework.
In addition, to facilitate the establishment of the personal information control rules and framework, we will enforce the following Privacy Policy — with which all Company executives and employees must comply — in order to provide the most appropriate measures for personal information protection.

Definition of Personal Information
The Company defines personal information as information that is related to natural persons who are currently alive and that allows for identification of specific individuals by means of personal names; birthdates or any other descriptions; numbers, symbols, or signs allocated to persons; as well as images or audio data (including information that can easily be compared with other information and thus assists in the identification of specific individuals even if it does not allow for identification by itself). Such information is not limited to information that allows identification of individuals, but also includes any information that represents facts, decisions, or evaluations related to any individuals' physical characteristics, properties, occupations, titles, or any other attributes.
The Company is committed to protecting and controlling all personal information with the utmost caution in accordance with the following Privacy Policy.
Scope
This Privacy Policy provides the handling procedures for personal information entrusted to the Company from our customers (including business clients, business partners, parties concerned in regional communities, job applicants, or any other interested parties; hereinafter referred to as the Customer).
The Company's Privacy Policy
- Collection, usage, and provision of personal information
In consideration of the fact that it is entrusted with the Customer's information over the course of its business operations, the Company shall establish and maintain a secure control framework for personal information protection suitable to its respective business activities and shall collect, use, and provide personal information properly in accordance with the predetermined rules of that framework. - Compliance to laws and regulations
The Company shall comply with any laws and regulations related to the protection of the applicable personal information. The Company shall also provide and enforce the Company's own personal information control rules, which shall conform to such laws and regulations. - Enforcement of safeguard measures
In order to ensure accuracy and security of personal information, the Company shall enforce measures for access control on personal information, limitations on transporting personal information out of the Company premises, and protection against unauthorized access from external sources in accordance with its information security rules, and, as a consequence, shall endeavor to prevent loss, corruption, modification, or leakage of personal information. - Appreciation of individual rights relating to personal information
The Company shall give due appreciation to Customer rights regarding their personal information and shall respond sincerely whenever the Customer requests the disclosure, correction, or deletion of personal information related to them, or disallows usage or provision of such information. - Establishment of personal information protection control rules and continuous revision thereof
The Company shall ensure that executives and employees understand the importance of personal information protection, establish personal information control rules that ensure proper usage and protection of personal information, and diligently enforce such rules. In addition, the Company shall maintain and continuously revise such rules as circumstances warrant.
Purposes of personal information usage and its provision to third parties
- The Company shall use personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes described in any of the following items, in relation with the Company's business operations, which is centered on production of information communications equipment and information communications systems as well as communications services:
- Fulfillment of contracts concluded between the Customer and the Company
- Communication with the Customer for business negotiations or arrangements
- Provision of after-sales services for products
- Delivery of advertisements for sales events or new products
- Provision of various membership services
- Administrative work related to staff recruiting
- Response to various inquiries from the Customer
- Analysis of questionnaire survey results to improve products or services
- Provision of personal information to the Company's group companies when the Company conducts business operations in collaboration with such group companies
- The Company shall not provide the Customer's personal information to any third parties without the prior consent of the Customer, except for cases applicable to any of the following items:
- When laws or regulations dictate
- When the necessity arises to protect safety of human lives, human bodies, or properties, and when it is difficult to obtain the consent of the Customer
- When the essential necessity arises to improve public health conditions or promote sound upbringing of children, and when it is difficult to obtain the consent of the Customer
- When the necessity arises to cooperate with any national or local governmental authorities (or those consigned and duly appointed with the operations thereof) who are authorized to conduct operations prescribed by laws and regulations, and when obtaining the consent of the Customer might obstruct such operations
- When handling of personal information is consigned to third parties, within the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of usage
- When personal information is provided to third parties as a result of succession of business due to merger or any other reasons
- The Company may provide the Customer's personal information (including name, office and home addresses, phone number, FAX number, or e-mail address) to the Company's group companies when it is necessary for the Company to conduct business operations in collaboration with such group companies. In such cases, the Customer's personal information is provided on paper or electronic media. The Customer reserves the right to request that the Company discontinue provision of personal information to the Company's group companies.
Regarding use of cookies and Web beacons
This website does not use cookies or Web beacons (clear GIFs).
Terminology
- Cookie
Cookie refers to a type of information that is mutually exchanged between the Web server that controls the website and your Web browser. A cookie may reside on your computer disk as a file. The Web server can use the cookie to collect information, for example, to identify the website pages to which the user on a certain computer has visited. The Company cannot locate or identify the individual, however, unless you explicitly enter your personal information on the website. - Web beacon
Web beacon refers to a technology that works together with cookies to determine how many times you have accessed a certain page. The Company cannot locate or identify the individual, however, unless you explicitly enter your personal information when you receive the cookie.
Regarding Requests for Disclosure of Personal Information or Claim for Complaints
When the Customer makes a request relating to disclosure, correction, supplement or deletion of the Customer's personal information under the Company's control, to disallow usage or provision to third parties, or to obtain notification of purpose of use (hereinafter referred to as Disclosure), or when the Customer sends any questions, comments, or complaints (hereinafter referred to as Inquiry), the procedures shall be prescribed as follows:
- Requests for Disclosure of personal information the Customer has provided to the Company's personal information holding organizations
- Contact the applicable personal information holding organizations.
- Requests for Disclosure of personal information the Customer has provided on the Company's website
- Contact the organizations responsible for the applicable Web page.
- Requests for Disclosure of personal information other than 1. or 2. above
Regarding requests for Disclosure of personal information other than the information the Customer has provided to the Company's personal information holding organizations or the information the Customer has provided on the Company's website, the procedures shall be prescribed as follows:- Request format
Download and use the Request for Disclosure of Personal Information format. If the Customer is unable to download Request for Disclosure of Personal Information, the Company is ready to send the format via FAX or postal mail. (Contact the Company at the Contact destination described below.)
- Attached documents
Attach the following two types of documents when submitting Request for Disclosure of Personal Information.
- Personal identification document
When the Customer requests Notification of Purpose of Use in accordance with Article 24, Section 2 of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as the Act), or when the Customer requests Disclosure in accordance with Article 25, Section 1 of the Act, in consideration of prevention against leakage of personal information, the Customer is requested to submit a personal identification document. If an appointed representative makes a request on behalf of the Customer, identification documents for both the Customer and the representative are required. If the Customer is under age of 15, the Customer's legal representative shall make a request. See the following descriptions for the identification documents requirement.
(When the Customer makes a request)
A copy of any of the following documents within its term of validity is required (Note: A "copy" in these requirements does not include images captured by a digital camera or scanner nor printouts of such images).
- Copy of a driver's license (The permanent address entry is not required; please erase this entry using a black marker.)
If the address on the driver's license is different from the Customer's current address, register this change with the authorities concerned and attach a copy of the backside as well. - Copy of a Basic Resident Registers card
The card must have a photograph and entries of full name, birth date, and address (current address) [Type B]. If the Customer has moved to the current address within the same local municipality and the current address is indicated on the backside of the card, attach a copy of the backside as well. - Copy of a passport
Copies of the page with a photograph as well as the page with the bearer's information (entries such as full name or address) are required. - Copy of a pension passbook
- Copy of a welfare passbook
- Copy of a health insurance card
Make sure that the current address is indicated in the Address entry. - Copy of a Certificate of Alien Registration (for foreign nationals; either a photocopy of the original card or a certificate issued by competent authorities)
One of the following documents issued within three months
- Person in parental authority (Article 818 of the Civil Law)
A duplicate or extract of family register, or any other document that certifies the relationship with the Customer - Majority guardian (Article 8 and 843 of the Civil Law)
A Certificate of Registration - Minority guardian (Article 839 and 840 of the Civil Law)
A Certificate of Registration - Non-legal representative (Note: only if the Customer is at age 15 or older)
A letter of attorney signed and sealed by the Customer (the Original copy)
A duplicate or extract of register; or a duplicate or extract of Certificate of Registration (Note: Only those issued within three months are accepted.)

- Certificate of fee payment (Not required for correction, supplement, or deletion of personal information)

The Company charges the Customer a fee of 800 yen for a request for Disclosure or Notification of Purpose of Use of personal information. The detailed procedures are provided below. No fee is required for a request to correct, supplement, or delete personal information, or to disallow usage or provision to third parties. The Company will not refund the collected fee even when it is unable to carry out Disclosure or Notification of Purpose of Use when it does not possess the Customer's personal information, or due to any reasons governed by laws and regulations.
When the Customer requests Notification of Purpose of Use in accordance with Article 24, Section 2 of the Act, or when the Customer requests Disclosure in accordance with Article 25, Section 1 of the Act, the Company will charge the Customer a fee of 800 yen for each request in accordance with Article 30 of the Act. See the following for the details of the payment procedures.

Receiving bank branch: UFJ Bank, Tokyo Centralized Money Order Branch
The Customer is solely responsible for payment of the transfer fee. Consult respective banks for information about the amount of the transfer fee. For the receiving account name and account number, contact the Company via e-mail or telephone. - Postal Money Order
Purchase a fixed-price postal money order of 800 yen and send it to the address provided in 3. e. below. The Customer is solely responsible for any postal money order related fees.

The Company sends the reply for the request to the address provided on the Customer's personal identification document via delivery certified mail with personal identification (special type). The Company will respond to the request within two weeks, taking the internal investigation period into consideration. If the Company requires more than two weeks to send a reply, it will notify the Customer.

Notes to the Customer
- The Customer can use most of the services provided by the Company without providing personal information. The Customer may not be able to use certain services, however, if the Customer does not provide personal information to the Company.
- The Company is not liable for personal information security on other companies' websites to which links are provided from the Company's website.
- The Company assumes that any Customer who provides personal information on the Company's website has accepted the Company's Privacy Policy. If the Customer does not accept the Company's Privacy Policy, the Customer may not be able to use the services (including inquiry services) provided by the Company.
Notices
- The Company's Privacy Policy shall be subject to the laws and regulations of Japan.
- The Company may revise Privacy Policy to improve the personal information handling procedures or to reflect establishments of, or changes in, any laws and regulations.
- This Privacy Policy shall become effective as of the date of posting (or updating).
- If any respective contents are provided with different provisions on personal information protection, the applicable provisions shall override this Privacy Policy.
